Why Parks not Colvin?

Several months after her arrest, Colvin became pregnant. Some leaders questioned her ability to be a suitable symbol for the boycott. Was she too ornery, poor, young and dark skinned? It's interesting how even among blacks, there was discrimination based on color and economic status.
Rosa Parks, however, was an attractive face for the boycott. She was well known in society, quiet in her protest, and an active political figure.
